We’ve made a deal with some of the “dubious” DVD shops scattered around Beijing to stock our DVD of This Is Sanlitun. The DVD is available in Sanlitun and Shunyi. Although these shops (as with all DVD shops in Beijing) are operating in somewhat of a grey area, we have secured a good sales deal and to be quite honest these shops seem to be a bit more above board than our actual legal sales agents and distributors here in China. We have yet to see any figures, numbers or money from our iQiYi (Baidu) deal, yet our film has amassed over one million views through their online video platform. Here’s to the honest pirates!
The DVD of my movie This Is Sanlitun is out now and available in most Sanlitun district DVD shops in Beijing. It will also be available through our Facebook page.

A pair of hapless ex-pats discover that Beijing isn’t the hotbed of entrepreneurial opportunity they had anticipated in this hilarious and timely look at the West’s obsession with the East.
We’re in the final stages of editing, the first rough cut is done. We finally shot our “long awaited” Tianjin scene yesterday, a scene that takes the film briefly outside of Beijing to the city of Tianjin, we’ve been delaying that shoot for reasons of laziness, I guess. Today is our final day of pick up shoots, a couple of scenes that will be shot and inserted in to the movie starting with a sunrise scene at 6.30am. When today is over we’ll have all the material to make that rough cut start to shape up to a final cut.

Our producer had a small preview screening for us last Saturday, most of the cast and crew showed up to watch 6 selected rough edited scenes from the movie. People enjoyed themselves and the screening party was a nice success.
Now to continue editing and post production which will hopefully result in a finished product sometime before November 2012.
